Antonio “Tony” A. Retuta, a professional electronics engineer with more than 26 years exposure in telecommunications project implementation, commissioning, delivery, and management of secured fixed and mobile communication systems for public safety, defense and commercial sectors.
Several major telecommunications projects he spearheaded, delivered and commissioned were as follows: Ministry of Interior – Public Security Department (MoI-PSD) and Department of Telecommunications (MoI-DoT Western region, particularly in Jeddah and Taif and Central Region) Motorola Astro Smartzone Systems, Saudi Electric Company – Motorola Astro Smartzone Systems, Motorola Radio Trunked Systems for three (3) major International Airports in Eastern, Central and Western Area of Saudi Arabia for Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAUDIA), Saudi Aramco Motorola Astro Trunked Radio Systems Projects in Yanbu, Jubail, Hawiyah and Harad areas, Motorola Trunked Radio Systems for SABIC Companies in Jubail like Jubail United Petrochemical Company, Saudi International Petrochemical Company (Sipchem), National Industrial Gases Company (NIGC), Saudi Fertilizer Company (SAFCO), Al-Razi Saudi Methanol Company and some other small projects around Saudi Arabia including a Motorola Radio Trunked System for King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in Dharan, Saudi Arabia. Tony earned his bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering in 1986 at Saint Louis University (SLU) in Baguio City, Benguet, Philippines. After graduating in the university, he started working with his father’s construction business as building contractor. After two years in the business, Tony started his career by taking first the licensure examination for electronics and communications engineering profession. After successfully passing the examination and became a registered electronics engineer, he then joined Rizal Technological University (Formerly Rizal Technological Colleges) in Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila as an ECE instructor. After which, he left teaching profession and find a better opportunity in Saudi Arabia. Tony spent almost 25 years working as a Project Engineer in one of the largest contractors of TETRA communication systems in the Kingdom and a leader in the field of integrated security solutions for the government of Saudi Arabia. He obtained his Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) – Electronics Engineer (ECE) license in 1989 and upgraded to Professional Electronics Engineer (PECE) in 2015. Within the same year in 2015, he also got his certification as an ASEAN Engineer (AE). Being a member of the ASEAN Engineering Registry, Tony can practice his profession in any of the members of the Southeast Asian Nations. In 2016, Tony achieved a consultant certification level in the field of telecommunications engineering from Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE). Tony also achieved his certification as an ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE) this 2017. Tony is also a lifetime member and one of the 2016 and 2017 Board of Directors of the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP), Riyadh Chapter, a professional organization in the Philippines accredited by the Professional Regulations Commission that provides assistance to fellow Filipino professionals in terms of career development and other related matters that promotes professional growth as provided by the organization.
